Top 5 Webcams

Logitech C920

$60

Shop Now

The Logitech c920 should be at the top of every webcam list. Not because it’s the sharpest, has the best colors, or the prettiest image, it has none of those things. It deserves the top spot because it’s perfectly “ok” in all categories at a killer price. It’s the first webcam a beginning content creator on a budget should always look at. $60 for a Full HD webcam that just works? Perfect.

Stand-out features

– 1080p30 resolution
– 78° Field of View
Integrated USB 2.0 type-A
– Very Affordable

Elgato Facecam

The Elgato Facecam was the streaming behemoth’s first webcam launch and was the first webcam I tried where it actually looked natural. It still has that somewhat soft webcam look and if it’s not well lit, the dark areas start to mush together, but all other webcams before tended to have a strong color tint in some direction (usually orange or green). This feels like a proper camera, and, if you can light your scene properly, you can actually fool people into thinking you paid much more than you did. For $150, this thing is great.

Stand-out features

– 1080p60 simple RGB ring
– 82° Field of View
– Removable USB 3.0 type-C connection
– Elgato Camera Hub software included

Elgato Facecam Pro

Take all the good things I said about the Facecam, forget the negatives, and turn it up to 11. That’s the Facecam Pro. It’s the best webcam I’ve ever seen. It’s not only the first webcam ever to go full 4k60, but you can actually fool people into thinking it’s a full-size, mirrorless camera (like I did in my video on it. It’s $300 and it’s always out of stock, but if you can get your hands on one, you won’t regret it

Stand-out features

– 4k60(!) resolution
– Wide ~100° field of view
– Removable USB 3.0 type-C connection
– Elgato Camera Hub software included
– Incredible image quality

Insta360 Link

$300

Now that we’re beyond conventional webcams, let’s get to the cool ones.. and the Insta360 Link is the coolest one there is. It’s a webcam on a built-in ROBOT. Well.. gimbal, but watch the short video to see what I mean. It can look around, rotate to vertical, even follow you! It’s 3 separate motors allow it to do things no other webcam is capable of. And it has a nice quality image, too.

Stand-out features

– 4k30 or 1080p60 resolutions
79.5° field of view
– Removable USB 3.0 type-C connection
– Link Controller software included
– This thing freaking follows you as you move, that’s pretty stand-out

Sony ZV-E10

$798

Yes, yes, I know. This is a mirrorless camera, not a webcam. BUT.. it has a webcam mode built into it and if you’re not limited by a budget and really just want the best webcam possible, this is a great way to go. By plugging this into your computer via USB and turning on webcam mode, any of your conference softwares (Zoom, Skype, OBS) will now automatically see it as a usable webcam. So while you’re limited to 720p in this mode, you can swap out lenses, get amazingly sharp and accurate colors, and be the most professional person at your next conference meeting! Especially next to Heather who thinks she needs to be 5 inches away from the webcam.. Sheesh.

Stand-out features

– 720p30 resolution (in webcam mode, 4k normal mode)
– Swappable lenses for any FOV you could ever need
USB 3.0 type-C connection
– You can unplug this thing when you’re done with your Zoom call and go take professional photos with it
